Porsche Chalon by 914four Porsche Chalon by 914four
Another pic of my ill fated 914 Chalon, this was in Montreal at the Porsche Club of America gathering for the Grand Prix de Montréal in 2005. The fire engines came to Jacques Villeneuve's newly opened restaurant to put out a fire in the kitchen, and I was worried that someone might drop a hose on my car. Little did I know when I took this photo that less than 8 months later they would arrive too late to save the rare little Porsche.

I found her in a field in upstate Vermont in 1999, not running but with the Chalon body, and bought her 2 weeks later. The rings on #3 cylinder had seized and the relay board was toast, and the heat exchangers had more holes in them than I could count. She needed new rear brakes and some other minor stuff, so it took me four years to get her on the road. A garage fire destroyed her in early 2006, so I only really got to drive her for two summers.

Wow, your car is gorgeous! Normally I don't like the 930 kit on the 914, but it looks fantastic here!

Thank you, I really miss that little car. The Chalon body was somewhat more than a kit, and as such there have been some really terrible examples. This one took over 200 hours to do (the previous owner had it done, and he paid to have it done by a reputable customizer), and other than just drilling out the rotors for the 5 bolt wheel conversion they did everything right. I had the rear upgraded to 914/6 specs with adjustable Koni yellows and actual 914/6 halfshafts ($4000 later!) and had a complete used 911S front suspension which I had planned to do that winter, at least up until my friends garage burned down. I still have the front suspension, I kept it at my home because I'd ordered new torsion bars and bushings and wanted to make sure they fit before starting the task. Anyone need a set (check the Pelican Parts website to see what they are asking for them!) of 911S front brakes ? Or a whole front suspension for that matter?

Yes, a 1983 911SC, nicknamed "Penny" for her copper colour.
