I'm back, and noticed that we got our first positive review on Amazon.com, awesome!
I went to a funeral in Montreal and slept at my mom's, and happened to snap this pic of her wearing a Tanita t-shirt
Maybe some day I can convince her to write a review...
Note: There is still a chance to win one of these shirts (2XL) with the impossible car quiz elsewhere in my journals.

Good news, the folks at Library and Archives Canada CISS beat their stated mandate of a three day turnaround by two and a half days. I wrote my new password down so this doesn't happen again!
Amazon says 12 to 48 hours to release!
Thank you, everyone, for your patience.

Oh yeah, since 20% of you refused to answer, the overwhelming majority (20%) recommended that the book be priced at $3.99; who am I to blow against the wind?

I guess someone didn't like the first book, every positive review on Amazon.com has had a "not useful" tagged to it except for one. If any of you know who that was, please let them know they missed one. ("The Kentauride" was offered for $0 this weekend, and exactly 178 copies were "sold" worldwide, bringing the total to about 1400 copies in all. We also made it into the "top 100 free" books on Saturday)
I won't bore you with the gory details, but suffice to say that the last week has been "interesting" (Old Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times). The major events include a death in the family, my five-year-old finding a thriving wasps nest in the back yard, and lastly and probably most relevant here, I must have messed up my password because I got locked out of the CISS web portal. Since the 24th is a major holiday in Quebec, I am not likely to hear back from them until the 25th, and I need that access to retrieve the ISBN number for the book. So for now, it seems like the earliest release date is probably the 26th, as the Kindle folks take a day or two before they will release the eBook. Since I have to attend a funeral in Montreal on the 26th, I am hoping that everything will fall into place before I have to leave and it will go live without my intervention.
So once again, I apologize profusely if I spoiled your weekend in any way, and thank you for understanding.
As an aside, he was stung four times, but two of the stings caused massive infections (golf-ball sized) and he had to be taken to emergency, and is now receiving serious antibiotics four times a day (40 doses in all, the pharmacist phoned the doctor about the size of the dose). I knew that some people are allergic to wasp or bee stings, but he was fine the day it happened, it was only the following day that he began to swell up. I'd never heard of a wasp sting becoming infected, but I thought I should warn all of you to be careful of wasps.

For those of you who logged onto Amazon on Saturday morning expecting to find "The Centaur" for sale, I sincerely apologize. If it's any consolation, I too, was desperately anxious to see the book there on time. Unfortunately, a series of incidents cascaded and we are currently stuck at the "submission" stage.I won't bore you with the gory details, but suffice to say that the last week has been "interesting" (Old Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times). Overdue update / random gibberish part II
I originally wrote this in September 2018, with the intent of posting it before the first of October. Like much of my writing, it got stuffed in a drawer and forgotten until I needed the memory card it was stored on. I haven't touched the book since I wrote this. Hopefully it's still relevant.
There are some situations in life that we spend significant time planing for, either expecting or dreading, and occasionally, a combination of both. Some of these situations may be inevitable (such as death and taxes), and some may turn out to have been avoidable in hindsight. My intent is not to wallow in self-pity (though after rereading the next pa
Black Friday Dark Thoughts
I've heard that the origins of "Black Friday" stem from Friday, September 24, 1869, when an attempt by a few speculators to corner the US gold market was thwarted by then President Ulysses S. Grant, who released a large amount of government gold for sale, causing gold prices to plummet and creating a panic in the stock market. I have also heard that it is the day that most retail businesses begin making a profit, or get "in the black," and that with the year's sales before that date, retailers are traditionally operating at a financial loss, aka "in the red." Whatever the origins, Black Friday is a time for sales, and, not being one to miss a
Update on 'The Dragon' (warning: non-gluten-free)
So I’ve been somewhat out of touch lately, catching up on a few notes here and there and posting stuff that has been in my STASH for way too long, but not as present as I would normally like to be. This is mainly the fallout of a significant project I’ve been working on as part of my day job, the one that pays my bills and allows me to write in my spare time. As a result, I’ve been working long, twelve-hour-plus days and most weekends, including holidays (like Victoria Day and Canada Day) and barely keeping up with my family obligations, much less my dA stuff.
Back in December, my little sister came to live with us with he
